Testimonials

"We drove from Galway to dublin not knowing what to expect for our course. When we got there, Dave and Joanne, who are maried themselves made us feel very welcome and at ease. Then we got to meet lots of decent people getting married themselves so that was nice and a bit of craic. The day flew in actually and while you imagine that you can't learn anything new from a course like this we were surprised a fair few times with what Dave had to say about things like parenting and sexuality. Highly recommend the course. Thanks guys and best of luck." Patricia and Dermot, Terenure

"After the horror stories we had heard about premarriage courses we weren't too excited about doing ours. Thankfully Dave is easy to listen to, has a sense of humour and because David and Joanne are a couple like the rest of us, very down to earth, it means that you don't feel like you are being preached at. The course was very practical actually and being honest we learned a fair bit about conflict and stuff that we wouldn't have known beforehand. We have told our friends that if they have to do a course, then do this one." Amy and Steve, Fairview

"We have been together for 8 years so I was a bit sceptical about what someone else could tell us about our relationship. Then we went along to the Avalon premarriage course. Even though we have children already, the workshop about Parenting was very useful and we realised how our relationship affects the kids. Thought the course was great and its surprising what we did learn in the end." Siobhan and Richie, Kilkenny

"I think that Avalon is the only course run by an actual married couple. Anyway, that doesn't matter but we found it great. We were given fun couples' exercises to do throughout the day so that was a laugh. We also got to find out about the things that makes marriages fall apart and that was good too. Interesting course all round, very surprised with all the new information we got." Ciara and Sean, Roscommon.

"Hated having to get up in the morning and drive from Cork. Luckily the atmosphere was very relaxed when we got there, no pressure to speak or anything. Got to know things about ourselves that you just never think to ask, like who is going to mangage the money and exactly how much it costs to have kids. Stuff people just dont think to ask. Highly recommend it and the presenters were very nice and chatty, they understood that we had travelled all morning so they looked after us. John and Marie, Ballincolig, Co. Cork.

"Lots of info, a bit of humour and friendly couples, good day out actually." Carmel and Brian, Howth.

"We liked how Dave and Joanne have just got married so besides him being a therapist and tellng us all the technical stuff, as a couple, they were very honest and made us all feel very normal." Barry and Yvonne, Swords

"We hadn't thought about the church bit of the wedding all that much but when David and Joanne were describing their own ceremony, we realised that there is a lot of detail that we can put into the ceremony to make it our own. That was really nice and interesting. Also got to talk to each other in a very special way and have to say it brought us together that little bit closer." Kieran and Maggie, Wexford
